Environmental Monitoring

Every new construction site within our cities is likely to cause an adverse impact on the environment and the population surrounding it

Background Information / Main Objective

Every new construction site within our cities is likely to cause an adverse impact on the environment and the population surrounding it. Noise, vibration and airborne particulate emissions (dust) are considered the three most unwanted types of nuisance that have an immediate impact on the area from construction. In order to minimize these impacts on the Northern Line Extension, FLO sourced one of the latest and high-tech environmental monitoring system known as INFRA Net Field Monitoring System.

Description

It comprises individual noise, dust and vibration monitoring devices which continuously monitor the environmental impact of our site activities. All the data accessible via a web based portal in real time. In the event of pre-determined levels being triggered, text and email alerts are sent to the construction team, so that additional mitigation can be implemented before legal thresholds are breached. Peak noise events are automatically recorded, which is very useful in establishing if these noises are from on site or off site sources.
By using the latest technologies we have demonstrated to the regulators and other stakeholders that we using Best Practicable Means.
